Unfortunately (well, unfortunately for them - but fortunately for two of you!), I have to choose new winners for both the Rustic Patriot Girl and Purely Dog Beds giveaways. The winner of the Rustic Patriot Girl giveaway did not claim her prize.

The winner of the Purely Dog Beds giveaway decided not to accept her prize, as the sponsor requires the winner's Social Security Number for tax purposes. I apologize for this, and I did not realize that this would be required of the winner. Please know that if you are the winner, you will have to provide your SSN to the sponsor (but not to me) in order to claim your prize. This is what they say about the situation:

"I fully understand your hesitation; rest assured, we wouldn't ask unless it were entirely necessary. Review: Buzzy Weez

Recently, I was approached with a request to review a baby onesie from the children's clothing line Buzzy Weez. When I visited BuzzyWeez.com, it didn't take long to win me over! Each t-shirt or onesie features an illustration of a different animal with a piece of witty text relevant to that animal. The onesie I chose has a drawing of a sheep and says "I [heart] ewe"! Isn't that the cutest thing you've ever heard?

When my onesie arrived, I immediately loved it! The sheep graphic is even cuter in person, and the color of the fabric is so rich and vivid. I love this shade of dark green - almost a forest green, but a bit brighter. The onesie is 100% cotton, which is always a top choice for me, because it's a natural, durable, breathable material. I also love how soft and thick the fabric is - gentle enough for baby's sensitive skin, but strong enough to last a long time. No cheap, flimsy onesie here!

The onesie is designed well, with long sleeves to keep baby warm and a lap neck to allow big ol' baby heads to pass through with no problem. The torso section is nice and wide, which will allow it to be worn longer - always a great thing! The leg holes are also roomy, the snaps fasten sturdily, and the stitching is solid. The only small issue I noticed is that the area directly around the images sort of "pooches out" a bit. However, it's not all that noticeable and the onesie is fabulous overall.

The whole line of Buzzy Weez clothing is colorful, cute, and just plain fun. There are tons of darling designs and funny sayings. Here are a selection of a few of my other favorite designs to inspire you!

Review: Ecostore USA

I was recently contacted by a representative of Ecostore USA about reviewing a couple of their items here on Twee Poppets. When I visited their website and discovered their commitment to creating products that are healthy for our bodies and our earth, with "No Nasty Chemicals™," I jumped at the opportunity! It is so important to me to use safe and natural products, especially when it comes to my future child. I chose to review the Pure Oxygen Whitener and the Baby Sleepytime Bath.

Pure Oxygen Whitener

Before discovering Ecostore USA, I never knew that a product like this existed. It is a natural substitute for chlorine bleach that uses plant-based ingredients, simple mineral salts, and essential plant oils for a safer alternative that is still very effective. Since babies are such messy creatures, I know that when I have one of my own, there will be many instances in which I want to make whites whiter and remove stubborn stains on my child's clothing, and it puts me at ease to know that I won't have to use harsh chlorine bleach to achieve this. Pure Oxygen Whitener contains NO toxic petrochemicals, NO phosphates, NO nitrates, NO chlorine, NO EDTA, NO optical whiteners, and NO dyes or synthetic perfumes (click here to learn more about why these chemicals are undesirable and why Ecostore USA chooses not to use them in their products - very important information!). Not only is it safer for our bodies, it's safer for our environment, too - in fact, the leftover gray water can even be used for lawns and trees!

Of course, all this is well and good - but does it actually work? It does! I tested out the Pure Oxygen Whitener on a load of my white clothing, and I was very pleased with the results. The clothes came out just as white and bright as if I had used chlorine bleach! The only small downside to this product is that it does have somewhat of a foul odor - however, the odor is still less pungent than that of actual bleach, so it really isn't an issue for me, as it is an overall improvement. I am so happy to have found this bleach alternative. It comes in a 35.3oz container and only 1-2 tablespoons are needed per use, which means that it will go a long way, on top of all its other great qualities. Are you jumping for joy yet? I am!

Baby Sleepytime Bath

This is another gloriously natural product with "No Nasty Chemicals™" - that means NO toxic petrochemicals, NO lauryl or laureth sulfates, NO propolyne glycol, NO dyes, NO artificial perfumes, NO parabens, NO cocamide DEA, and NO cocomidopropyl betaine. For something that's going to come into direct contact with baby's skin, this is essentially important. Many chemicals found in the majority of baby products can cause skin irritation or eczema, and some have even been linked to certain diseases - that's why I will feel so much more comfortable using products like this that leave out all those harmful ingredients!

Using the Baby Sleepytime Bath was a joy. I tried it out with a three month old baby that I occasionally nanny for, and we both loved it! It is scented with lavender, which has been shown to bring about feelings of calm and relaxation, and that was certainly true for us. The baby was just slightly fussy upon entering the bath, but calmed right down within a few moments when I added a capful of the liquid. The Baby Sleepytime Bath made the whole area smell so lovely and soothing that I think we were both relaxed by it! And when I took the baby out of the bath and dried her off, her skin felt even softer and smoother than usual. It was a delightful experience!

I was tagged to participate in this fun Q&A by Kari at Shining 2 Save! I encourage you all to visit her wonderful blog and say hello!

So the game is that I answer the 8 questions she wrote, then write my own questions for the next batch of bloggers to answer. I'm supposed to tag 8 new bloggers, but I want anyone who wants to play to feel free to join on in - so I'm tagging everyone who wants to play! Here are Kari's questions to me:

1. What is your favorite dessert?

Oh my, I LOVE dessert more than just about anything! It's so hard to choose just one. I love super rich, fudgy chocolate decadence cake, ice cream, chocolate, Sidney's Sinful Sundae from the Outback, French pastries, pie, really good cupcakes - just about anything, really! Mmm....now I'm hungry...

2. What was the best thing you did this summer?

For out third anniversary, my partner and I took a long drive and went on a picnic at a beautiful park overlooking the water and mountains. It was wonderful to just spend the day with my favorite guy!

3. Do you have a hobby?

Um, you're looking at it. Twee Poppets is my full-time hobby! You know, like a cross between a hobby and a full-time job? I'm sure lots of you other bloggers out there know exactly what I mean!

4. Summer, Winter, Fall or Spring?

I love the weather in early fall, when the air is just starting to get crisp and the trees are just beginning to turn. My ideal weather would be 60-65 degrees and sunny (but with one big, thick cloud directly over the sun, because I get too hot when it shines directly on my skin). I hate for it to be too hot out!

5. Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts?

I like doughnuts, but I think I like frappucinos even more, so I'll go with Starbucks.

6. What is your favorite color?

Aqua - the perfect mix between green and blue. It's hard to find the exact shade that is my favorite, but I see it on the edges of glass shelves sometimes. When I see the perfect shade of aqua, it can actually stop me in my tracks and make me stare for a moment or two!

7. What's your favorite TV Show?

It's been The Office for a long time, but I think it may be on its way to switching to It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Flight of the Conchords is way up there, too.

8. Where was the best place that you have traveled?

When I was seven, I got to spend two weeks in Kenya. My dad lived there (for work) for a year and a half when I was little, so I was visiting him. As young as I was, I still remember it quite vividly, and it was amazing - I would love to go back someday.

Review and Giveaway: Rustic Patriot Girl (CLOSED)

Cyndy of the Etsy shop Rustic Patriot Girl was kind enough to send me a pair of her gray wool bunny slippers for baby. I received the 0-3 month size, and let me tell you, they are the cutest thing in the whole wide world. The only thing cuter than baby feet is baby feet inside a pair of these bunny slippers! See for yourself:

Only they're about three times cuter in person. Truly, they are! You have to see their teeny tiny size to get the full effect. They seem impossibly small (just like newborn feet!), but at 3.5 inches, they're a standard size for newborn shoes. (Rustic Patriot Girl also offers them in sizes all the way up to 18 months.)

They arrived in a small plastic gift box, atop a bed of pink and blue confetti. How fun and festive! It included a card with information about the slippers, a tag with the company logo, and a cute little sheep sticker with the size printed on top. The box had gotten a little smashed during shipping, so I'm glad it was there to protect the slippers, which were in perfect condition.

The booties are handmade from an upcycled 100% wool sweater. I love that they are made using reclaimed materials, as this is a very eco-friendly option. I also love that they're made of wool, which is a natural, warm, breathable material. I was a little worried that these booties might be a little scratchy since they're made of wool, but as it turns out, they are luxuriously soft, like they were spun from a cloud. They feel more like cashmere than wool to me - any baby would be lucky to wear something so plush!

These bunny slippers seem to be very well made. The soft ears and button eyes are securely attached, and the shoes themselves are strongly sewn together with a very thick blue thread. I can tell they're going to last for a long time, and I think they're likely to become a treasured family heirloom. They're just so ridiculously cute! And they look great from every angle.

Review and Giveaway: Master Lock

Do you all remember when I partnered up with Master Lock to let you know about the great sweepstakes they were having at the time? Well, now here's part two: a review of their 1590D Precision Dial Set-Your-Own-Combination Lock ("Precision Dial") and their 1500iD Speed Dial Set-Your-Own-Combination Lock ("Speed Dial").

Precision Dial
The precision dial uses the format of a traditional rotary dial padlock (the kind we're all used to seeing on lockers, where the user spins the wheel to enter the combination). But it has a few important differences from the locks we're used to seeing on lockers!

First and foremost, the rotary dial includes not only numbers (one through nine), but also a selection of ten different letters (A, D, E, H, J, L, N, R, S, T). Even better is that the user has the option to set his or her own password (a combination of any three numbers/letters). I absolutely love this option, because it makes it infinitely easier to remember my combination! I can't even tell you how many times I remember students at my high school forgetting their PE locker combos and having to walk into the coach's office with their tails between their legs to get their combinations reset - talk about embarrassing! Luckily, this never happened to me, but I would always have to rack my brain, and I carried my combo on a slip of paper in my backpack, which could have been bad news if it fell into the wrong hands.

With the Precision Lock, I wouldn't have to resort to doing that, because I could set my password to something I could never forget. Some examples of memorable passwords could be birthdays, initials, or fun words. And even if the password was forgotten, this lock includes an easy-to-use password reset tool. How cool is that?

As an added bonus, the lock comes in a variety of colors (pink, black, blue, and green) to suit any individual style. This is perfect for junior high and high school students, for whom it is especially important to display their individual style as they develop and refine their sense of self. I was sent the hot pink color, which I can see being a big hit among many girls.

My only small complaint is that the dial can sometimes be a little tough to turn. On the other hand, I suppose it's good that it doesn't move too easily, as that could make it difficult to stop on the correct number/letter. I guess that's why they call it the Precision Lock! It also clicks as it reaches each new number/letter and there are two arrows to show which number/letter is currently selected, so there's no question as to whether you've selected the correct one.

Speed Dial
The Precision Dial is very cool, but the Speed Dial is my favorite! I don't know why no one has thought of this before. This lock opens on directional movements (up, down, left, right) instead of a standard rotary dial, and it is so much easier to operate!

In sixth grade, before entering junior high, we had to spend a week learning and practicing how to open standard rotary dial locks, so we would be able to do it on our own once we entered seventh grade. With the Speed Dial, there would be no need for this - it's foolproof. There's no learning curve whatsoever, just push up for up, down for down, etc. Even for those who are proficient in opening rotary dial locks, the Speed Dial would be a huge time saver.

It can be operated easily with just one hand - perfect for students who always seem to have textbooks, cell phones, or water bottles to carry around in one of their hands. It's so nice to not have to transfer items or set them down on the ground while trying to deal with a standard lock. Plus, the lock can even be opened without looking at it, since you don't need to see the dial to operate it. This lock would be an ideal solution for visually impaired users.

The Speed Dial is all about customization. The user can choose his or her own combination, which, like with the Precision Dial, ensures that the password will not be easily forgotten. Plus, the combination can be of any length; choose a shorter password for convenience or a longer one for extra security. If the user prefers, the directional arrows can be covered up with any the included decals of letters, numbers, and shapes, to add an extra element of memorability. And like the Precision Dial, the Speed Dial also comes in several colors (red, blue, white, and black with chrome).

I love knowing that my locks are crafted by such a reputable brand as Master Lock. Both locks seem extraordinarily strong and durable, and they both include anti-shim technology to prevent the break-ins that can occur with other locks. I also love that Master Lock has set up Combolocker.com, where users can go to store multiple combinations in a secure database that can be accessed anytime - so they never have to worry about losing their combination again! I never thought I could be so impressed with something like a combination lock, but Master Lock has really gone above and beyond with these locks. They've won me over!

Review and Giveaway: ViCera Ceramic Cutlery (ARV $80!)

Up until a few weeks ago, I had never even heard of ceramic cutlery - but oh, I'm so glad I did! ViCera crafts some of the most amazing knives around, and the blades are made entirely of ceramic. I know that may sound a little unusual, but once you see the statistics, I think you'll be swayed. Take a look at how ceramic compares to traditional steel cutlery.

Why Ceramic?

In the spirit of full disclosure, there are a few drawbacks to ceramic that must be noted. Ceramic is more delicate than steel. It should not be used to cut very hard materials, such as bone, frozen food, thickskinned items (e.g. pumpkins), nonfood items (e.g. wood, metal), etc. The blade should not be exposed to flame, and the edge should not be used to crush food (e.g. garlic). Ceramic is not able to withstand shock and may break if dropped from a height. However, for my purposes, I have found these disadvantages to all be very minor, and they have not adversely affected my knife usage.

My whole experience with ViCera has been fabulous. I was given the opportunity to review their chef's knife, and from the moment my package arrived, I have had no complaints. Even the packaging was impressive! My knife came in a large box packed full with Styrofoam peanuts and marked fragile - this shows me that ViCera cares enough about their customers to take the extra initiative to ensure that everything arrives safely, which I truly appreciate in a company.

Of course, things only got better once I opened the box! The knife is beautiful. It's bright white and somewhat translucent when held up to the light. From far away, it looks to me almost like an extremely shiny, clean metal knife - and up close it's a flawless white.

The knife feels perfect in my hand. The handle is very comfortable to hold and I was surprised at how lightweight it is compared to my metal knives. This made it very easy to wield. It is so much easier to use than any other knife I've ever tried out! I love that the blade is slightly curved, because it allows me to chop by rocking the knife back and forth, which is especially terrific when there's a lot for me to cut. I feel completely comfortable chopping with it, and I've found that I'm able to cut food into smaller pieces and with much more precision than I am able to with my other knives.

Just look at these teeny tiny pieces of pickle - I wanted to see how finely I could chop them. It's a little tough to tell from the photo, but some of these pieces are literally as small as large grains of sand. Plus, I'm confident that the only thing that kept me from dicing them into even smaller bits is my own coordination, not the knife. I have no doubt that the knife could cut them into even smaller pieces, if wielded skillfully!

The blade truly is incredibly sharp, which makes easy work of slicing, dicing, chopping, and mincing! It feels like I'm slicing through butter, even when I'm cutting something like a thick, tough piece of steak. Not only can I chop faster, easier, and more effectively, but the sharpness of the blade prevents me from needing to apply much pressure and squishing my food - this results in far fewer juices escaping and less mess for me to clean up!

Take a peek at this experiment - the pile on the left was chopped with my normal metal knife and the pile on the right with my new ViCera ceramic knife. As you can see, many of the pieces cut with my normal knife turned out mushy from all the extra pressure needed to cut with the knife, and so the pile on the left has a small puddle surrounding it:

I also tried cutting a loaf of French bread with my ViCera knife. Since it isn't serrated like a normal bread knife, I didn't expect it to work very well...but as it turns out, it sliced through the bread far more easily than even my actual bread knife! It didn't crush the bread, create a mountain of crumbs, or rip the bread haphazardly. Since I was able to cut through it without using much pressure at all, I was left with beautiful, clean-cut, presentable slices - which is fortunate, because I was having company over that night! I was pleased to be able to serve nice-looking, uniform slices of bread with the meal.

Overall, I have been very pleased with my ceramic knife. It's beautiful, lightweight, extremely sharp, and very easy to use. I would highly recommend a ViCera ceramic knife to anyone who wants to experience chopping heaven!

Review and Giveaway: Bubele (CLOSED)

Bubele has some of the cutest clothing for little ones that I've come across yet! The offer a variety of onesies, lap tees, dresses, lounge pants, and accessories in fun prints and coordinating solids. When I saw their adorable mix and match sets, I was immediately enchanted. Bubele was kind enough to send me a complimentary Chocolate/Sage Stripe Set to review. Isn't this the most adorable little outfit you've ever seen?

When the package arrived, I opened it right away and practically squealed with delight! It was even cuter than I had thought it would be. I ran to show my partner, Cody, and found that we were in total agreement: c-u-t-e, CUTE! We were especially taken by the tiny pocket on the seat of the pants. We kept giggling and saying, "What does a baby need a pocket for, anyway? What's he gonna do, keep his tiny, tiny little wallet in there?" We love the pocket.

These are the pants from behind. The little pocket is much easier to see in person. Isn't it just the cutest, though?

The whole outfit is just perfectly designed. The stripes and polka dots are bold and fun - I'm definitely a sucker for them. Based on the photos, I was worried that they looked a bit more blue than green, but once I checked them out in person, I saw that they are the perfect minty green. The long-sleeved onesie has a lap neck, so there will be no problem getting a baby's proportionately large head through the opening. The hat is one-size-fits-most and its double-knotted top reminds me a bit of bunny ears, and what could be sweeter than that? The lounge pants have a bit of stretch to help extend the amount of time your little one can wear them - in fact, the size I received has a six month window (newborn to six months)! If they're a little long at first, they can easily be rolled up, and with just two rolls, the brown inner lining will peek out to make a darling little coordinating cuff.

I made cuffs! Just two quick rolls! The same thing can be done with the hat.

A nice little bonus is that each mix and match three-piece outfit comes with a free Pacifier Snappy, which can be used to keep your baby's pacifier (or small toy) from falling on the ground when your baby lets go of it. It is a dark brown ribbon with tiny white polka dots and sage green snaps, so it matches very well with the outfit. Best of all, Bubele was smart enough to include a fabric loop on the side of the onesie, so the Pacifier Snappy can be attached right to it!

The quality of this outfit is very impressive. All three pieces are made of 100% cotton, which I love because it is breathable, natural, and soft. Bubele is all about quality and attention to detail. Even the stripes line up from pant leg to pant leg, which definitely appeals to my more (*ahem*) meticulous side. My only small, nit-picky complaint about the set is that it has care tags that could potentially irritate a baby's sensitive skin, even on the inside of the hat - a tagless variety would be most welcomed. But other than that, I wouldn't change a thing. I'm in love with this outfit and I can hardly force myself to take my eyes off of it!

You may be wondering what on earth a Juppy is. Well, a Juppy is the perfect piece of baby gear for when your child is just starting to learn to walk - it allows parents to stand upright instead of bending over to help their babies toddle! Let's learn more about this great product through Juppy's family-friendly video.

The Juppy is not like traditional baby walkers. Wheeled "saucer" type walkers can hinder proper development of the leg muscles, and push walkers can increase the risk of injury from falling. Both of these types of baby walkers are bulky and take up too much space. The Juppy, on the other hand, is safe and compact. In fact, it's the only baby walker that can fit in your purse! Plus, it comes with its own carrying case, which makes it very easy to take along with you.

All you do is slip the Juppy on your baby like a pair of pants and hold the straps while your baby walks - it's so simple to use! No more sore shoulders and back from bending over for long periods of time to help your emergent walker balance! The Juppy allows you the freedom to stand up straight, and it is so much more comfortable than bending or kneeling.

I love that you can control how much assistance you provide your baby when using the Juppy. When your little one is just starting to practice walking, you can hold the straps taught and give plenty of support; then when the baby is closer to walking on his or her own, you can hold on lightly and let him or her do most of the work, while still being able to prevent any falls. This is a wonderful system, because it gives the baby a chance to practice new skills with an appropriate level of independence, yet still feel safe knowing a guardian is right there.

The Juppy is recommended for ages 7 months to 13 months, and it is one-size-fits-all for that age range. There is a good deal of room for larger babies, but still plenty of support for smaller babies. The straps can even be adjusted to suit your baby's height, ensuring that you can find the right length to hold comfortably.

I recently had a chance to review a few amazing products from Powermat. They sent me the Home & Office Mat, the Portable Mat, two Nintendo DS Lite receivers, and two iPod receivers to review free of charge. I have been absolutely blown away by the quality of these products!

I have a lot of wonderful things to say about the Powermat system, so I think the best way to get my point across is to break my review into several sections.

How It Works

How Do You Know It's Working?
When you place a device on the Powermat to charge, you will feel a magnet will gently pull it to the correct position, hear an activation sound, and see a small charging light turn on; when the charge is broken, the light turns off and a slightly different sound is made. If you decide you don't like the sound or light the Powermat makes, you can either turn them down or turn them off entirely. When charging, you will also see the normal indicators your device displays, so there will be no confusion as to whether or not it is charging correctly.

Convenience
My Powermat has made my life so much easier! It really is as simple as setting the device on the mat and forgetting about it. I was worried that hooking the devices up to the receivers might be a pain, but it couldn't be easier. I received receivers for the iPod and Nintendo DS Lite. The iPod receivers are small docks that can remain on the Powermat, and the Nintendo DS Lite receiver slides right onto the system. You can even leave the Nintendo DS Lite receiver on the system while you play; I personally prefer to remove it while I'm using the system, but this isn't a problem because it takes literally only two seconds for me to hook up the receiver.

Safety
When I first learned how the Powermat works, I immediately wondered, "is that safe?" I was concerned about what would happen if I stood over it, touched my hand to it, or placed non-enabled electronics on it. Could the power source harm me or my belongings? I was so relieved to learn that the Powermat is completely safe! Unless the item you place on the mat is hooked up to a receiver, the system is passive and nothing happens at all. It's also completely safe for all the devices that you do charge, and will not adversely impact their battery life in any way whatsoever. And since the Powermat uses only one electrical cord, it reduces the risks associated with overloading power strips that can come with independently charging multiple devices at once, as well as reducing children's interaction with electrical outlets. So not only is the Powermat safe in and of itself, it may actually make your home a safer place overall!

Design and Style
The Powermat is not at all bulky like some electronics. The design is sleek, stylish, lightweight, and surprisingly thin - in fact, it's even thinner than the small devices I charge on it! The black and silver coloring is modern and it blends in well with the rest of my furniture and appliances. I have my Powermat proudly displayed right on top of my TV stand in the living room, which not only makes it extremely convenient to charge my electronics, but also adds a touch of style to my living space!

Packaging
It's not often that product packaging is very noteworthy, but in this case, it's actually worth mentioning! Everything has its place and is easy to see and get to. Unlike some other packaging, where you have to fight to get the product out, the Powermat and its accessories can be retrieved without a fuss - there are even tabs you can pull to pop certain items right out! Plus, the Portable Mat comes with a convenient travel case and the Powercube tips come with their own storage case, so everything can stay together in one place.

Craftsmanship
I've had too many disappointments with electronics - usually, when something sounds too good to be true, it is. Sometimes new technology doesn't work like it's supposed to, or it just doesn't work at all. That's why I was so happy to find that the Powermat operates absolutely perfectly. I didn't even have to tinker with anything - it just works. Nothing feels flimsy or cheap, and I can tell my Powermat products are going to last for a long time!

Energy Conservation
Energy-wise, the Powermat is very efficient, abiding by the highest power standards (Energy Star 5). It charges your devices as fast or even faster than the cords they came with! When the device is completely charged, the Powermat will stop sending power, so you never have to worry about wasting energy. Who knew that this piece of technology could be so green?

Suggestions
It was honestly difficult for me to think of any reasons not to love the Powermat. However, one thing I noticed is that sliding the Nintendo DS Lite receiver off can sometimes hit the system's power button and turn the power on or off - so make sure you've saved your progress! Also, more receivers and Powercube Tips would be a welcome addition. For example, the Powercube has a tip for Samsung devices, but it doesn't fit my Samsung cell phone (my boyfriend says that Samsung is notoriously bad about cord compatibility). I know that adding more receivers and Powercube Tips is on Powermat's to-do list, so it looks like things will just be getting better and better!

Overall
I haven't been this impressed by an electronic product in a long time. My Powermats have become such a part of my daily routine that I can hardly believe I ever lived without them! They truly exceeded my highest expectations, and I give them my absolute highest recommendation. Powermat products would make a wonderful gift for any lucky recipient - including yourself!

If you've been wondering why I haven't posted much in the past few days, it's because I've been busy tinkering! I've been reading tutorials online and trying to figure out how to give my own blog a (small) makeover! I'm not at all proficient with HTML, so it's been a slow process. I made a test blog, though, so hopefully there will be as little "dust" on this page as possible.
