Through my membership with The Product Review Place, I was given an opportunity to review a Mickey Mouse cookie cutter from Cheap Cookie Cutters.
When the cookie cutter arrived, the first thing I did was accidentally drop it right onto the hard tile floor. D'oh! I was afraid that I had already ruined my cookie cutter and wouldn't be able to give it the review it deserved. But when I picked it up, it was still just as good as new! There were no dents, bends, or scrapes. I was relieved, and decided to test out its strength a bit further by applying moderate pressure with my hands to see if it would bend. It wouldn't! This product is sturdy, which is a nice change from other cookie cutters that bend and dent at the slightest push.
Before writing this review, I tested out my cookie cutter by baking a batch of sugar cookies. It worked wonderfully! It made clean cuts and perfectly-shaped little mouse ears. I noticed that it had a tendency to pick up the cookie dough cut-outs when lifted, which I actually liked, because it made it very easy to transfer the dough shapes to the cookie sheet; however, if you didn't want this to happen, I think it could be easily prevented by flouring the cookie cutter at regular intervals.
My batch of Mickey Mouse-shaped cookies turned out great! Some of the cookies look dark, but that's just because they're upside down on the plate - the bottoms get darker than the tops on my dark cookie sheet.
I also noticed that the mouse ears shape was very easy to modify into darling little birdies, so I made a couple of those, too!
I knew I had to bake a few extra Mickey cookies for my two-and-a-half-year-old niece, because she absolutely loves Mickey Mouse! She was very excited when she saw the cookies I brought her, and exclaimed, "It's Mickey! Yummm!" What would have made these cookies even more special for her is if I had some black food coloring so I could really make them look like Mickey! It would also be good for making cats, spiders, bats, shoes, hats, lettering, and all sorts of other fun cookie projects. Luckily, even without the food coloring, she loved them anyway. And since the cutter is only about 2.5 inches across, these little cookies are the perfect size for her! I love their small size, too, because it makes portion control very easy.
What I love about Mickey Mouse cookie cutters is that they are so versatile, especially if you have a child who loves Mickey Mouse! Sure, you could use them to bake cookies, but they could also be used as Play-Doh cutters, sandbox toys, stencils, and so much more! What other uses can you think of? Let your imagination go wild - at only $5.99 per cookie cutter, you can afford to buy one for just about every use you can think of!
You can buy a Mickey Mouse cookie cutter just like the one I received for only $5.99 at the Cheap Cookie Cutters website, here.
